Can fasting increase your life expectancy?

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

In the past, fasting was considered to be the main culprit to make people anorexic. However, a new study has shown that regular fasting would not only help in cutting down your weight, but it can also increase your life expectancy! This comes as a big surprise to all those dieters, who thought that regular fasting was just a way to quickly get rid of the body fat and increase hormones. Now, they will be more than happy to know that it can help them to live longer.

The research showed that a person who abstains from food for about 24 hours on regular basis (monthly or weekly), carries some beneficial qualities. For instance, asthma patients who fast regularly have better airway function than the others.

It is very common to hear the paradox that in order to lose weight, one must never stop eating. Some say that the fasting for small intervals of time will never help people in their conquest to burn the body fat. Moreover, they say that fasting would only stop the person form losing weight in the future.
Some claim that the above argument is completely biased, and it is said only to increase the sales of some major production companies. However, recent studies have proven otherwise. These short-term regular fasting really does help a person lose weight.

To question the issue, a research was recently conducted by a select team of specialists and nutrition experts on a group of athletes and body builders. Their research pool consisted of about twenty elite powerful athletes were selected for this examination, whose metabolic activities were observed and studied very closely, under various weight loss programs for about a month. These scientists, closely observed how the body responded ‘before, during and after’ every experiment. Most of these experiments showed some surprising results, which were completely opposite to the ones that they expected. The main question was: ‘What happens to the body if the person starves?’ It was found, that their routine was not disturbed during these fasting sessions even after about a month.

This was really amazing, especially since their research group was elite athletes who have to stay on top of their game 24/7. However, these results were questioned by some experts. There were mixed views amongst the nutritionists, where some felt that dieting is an easy way to cut the excessive calories and lose weight at a faster rate, and others stood against it. They thought that fasting is not meant for each and every person. It is completely dependent on the body of the person in question.

My personal opinion is that both sides have valid points… so the best thing to do is to consult with your doctor before getting into fasting.

A quick way to get on shape through fasting weight loss

All of us want to change the way we look on way or another. However, most of the people are scared of the comments of others and are thus unable to change the way they look. In particular the people who are of plus sizes face this problem very frequently. This article will guide you through the process of losing some weight and turn into a zero figure in just 2 days through fasting weight loss. This is targeted towards all the people who have tried over and over again but tasted no success. Also, this program is very easy to follow because you don’t have to do much and you will lose a considerable amount of weight. Sounds like it’s too good to be true, right? Just read on…

The basic mantra here is to reduce your crave for food. Once you get over this craving, weight loss seems a cakewalk as you have control over your bodies desire to eat. All you need to do is to replace your meals by drinks. These drinks are delicious and are enjoyed by the people of different age groups. One thing you should be cautious of, and I can’t stress that one enough, is that you make sure that you follow everything properly as there are chances that you might end up damaging your health.

If you are thinking that this is some sort of fasting, then let me tell you that there are many differences between fasting and this formula. Fasting is many times disadvantageous as it slows down the rate of metabolism, but in this case the rate of metabolism remains unchanged. Your body will never be deprived of any essential nutrients if you follow this formula unlike fasting. Also, this is much more result oriented and you don’t have to worry about regaining weight that is once lost.
The drinks we are talking about are available from many brands, and exist in two flavors, namely chocolate and vanilla, and it thus soothes our taste buds to take them in. They are most of the times referred to as meal replacements, and they are based on a formula created to show immediate results. They burn lot of fats in the body and are the equivalent to a lot of exercise.

Again, be careful when taking on such kind of dieting plans as they are not suitable to people who have a history of digestion problems. Any past illness can be proven risky and these drinks could worsen your health conditions in no time. So, it is always advisable to contact your doctor before you begin any dieting plans.
